Vermont Campgrounds

Our first stop in Vermont was a campground called Kampersville that was supposed to be nice. We got in on Sunday. When I hooked up the box was full of spiders. Strike one. We couldn’t get satellite but they had cable… however it was only a few channels. Strike two. We walked across a busy street to get dinner at their cafe and the food was extremely greasy and the place was hot. Strike three. I thought we would stick it out because it was only a few days. However… Monday morning I took the kids to the playground which was right behind the sewage dumping area. Strike four. Then I decided to take them to the pool after lunch. The one pool had what looked like vomit next to it and no one seemed concerned at all. Five strikes was all I could take! Plus the staff was extremely rude every time I had to deal with them.

Thankfully my wonderful husband drove around after his business was done for the day and found us another campground that was right across from Lake Champlain about 20 miles away named 10 Acres Campground. It was a small campground that only had 30 amp but the owners were extremely nice, the pool was clean, we had satellite, and most important a view with a breeze! :)

The first picture I took was of the kids sitting in front of the RV enjoying the breeze looking at the fishing pond…

Here is a view of the lake from the front of the RV…

Well… now you know how far behind I am! :) The weekend of the Fourth the campground had a parade with golf carts and bicycles. We ended up leading the parade. Here are some pictures of the decorated golf cart…

Normandy Farms

This is the campground we stayed at in Foxboro while Nathan was working in Boston. They had an AMAZING dog park. It was heaven for Tinkerbell. She could run and run and run. We took the dogs there almost everyday to wear them out.

Here is Dory playing camo dog with the fence…

Here is a picture attempting to show how BIG the park is…

Here is a picture of Dory’s favorite feature… the doggie water fountain…

The dog bowl height one is in front of Timmy and he is pushing on the button to fill it.

The last picture I took of Normandy Farms is of the kids playing on the playground. We spent a few of our days indoors that week because Timmy came down with a nasty stomach bug but he felt okay the last day we were there so we took them to the playground…

Iowa

From Colorado we drove to Iowa. We had already called a campground that we had sites at but when we called again they said they were covered in ice and we wouldn’t be able to get in. We located a campground in a small town named Albia. It was called Indian Hills and is part of a motel. It was quite nice. They gave you a coupon for two drinks per site and 10% off at the restaurant. So we went to their restuarant for dinner and with all of the coupons it was pretty inexpensive.

The next morning Nathan went to work at one of his customer’s offices, Sinclair Interational. While he worked, my mom and I went back to the restaurant for lunch and then I took the kids to the indoor pool and jacuzzi that is with the hotel. After swimming we used their shower room and everyone took showers and dressed in dry, warm clothes before heading back to the RV for some Wii Fit play time.

Here is a picture of sites #794 & #795. The sites are not real big and you are in a park that is full of park models. They just rent out the sites that haven’t been bought.

Things I like: Full hookup with cable, first time guests get $100 gas card. There are lots of activities and best of all are all of the mineral pools of varying temperatures.

Things I don’t like: Sandy sites so lots of dirt coming in. The trash is inconvenient to get to. Worst of all is NO cell service! They said that they told us when I made reservations but they didn’t. Their sister camp, Caliente Springs, is up the road and has service but it is only for 55+. They are supposed to have a cell tower put in by summer. The wi-fi is slow as well.
