Pier 39 is where the California Sea Lions have taken over. It looks to me like they have put in floating docks for them to keep them off of the boat slips but we still saw a couple laying on boat slips. Here are the kids posing on a sculpture.

This is a picture of the Pier 39 sign with a seal next to it…

And another of a mound of seals on one of the floats…

One of the best parts of Pier 39 was the chance to get some really good pictures of Alcatraz and what would have been a great picture of the Golden Gate Bridge if it hadn’t been so overcast…

Next post is Lombard Street and the trolley….

This morning we got up early and went to Jelly Belly to meet one of the Garnet moms, Jill. We decided to go over the Golden Gate Bridge to get to the Jelly Belly Factory. Here is a picture of the bridge as we were getting on it and one as we were going over it.

We arrived a little bit early at Jelly Belly so I took some pictures of the artwork in the lobby…

These were pictures that were created like mosaics with Jelly Belly beans.
Samantha, Timmy, and Josh decided to sit by the stairs while we waited…

We were not allowed to take pictures on the tour but here are the boys right before the tour began…

After the tour was over we did a bit of shopping (of course) and now everyone has Jelly Belly beans to last for months. :) We decided to skip the cafe at the factory and instead went to a nearby mall and ate at a Red Robin. Here is a picture of Jill and I with all of the kids outside of the Red Robin. Her Garnet baby is Leah and she also has a little boy named Nolan who is a little older than one.

Joshua and Leah played a game of chase around a pillar. I couldn’t manage to catch them both in the same picture but here is Joshua running around the pillar after Leah and one of Leah waiting for Josh to come back around the pillar…

We had a great time. Tomorrow we will go and do the San Francisco tourist thing and ride the trolley and go to Fisherman’s Wharf. I will post pictures tomorrow night.

#1: DO NOT pour boiling water on your leg…

Last night while making dinner I tried to put the oven rack in the oven. It was sitting next to the fold up counter behind the stove. The rack hit the fold up counter which slid down throwing the pan of boiling water off of the stove and onto me.
I am thankful that Nathan was thinking more clearly than me and he got me into the shower very quickly with cool water. I called Nurse One who said NOT to put any type of lotion or oils on it because it would trap the heat. Then I called my friend Roger who is an ER nurse to find out what they would do at the hospital and it seems that the only reason to suffer without the cool water would be to get pain medication so I stayed home and Nathan went and got me some gauze.
Today it looks horrible and is blistered but it is not hurting! :)

Here is Nathan and Samantha on the beach…

Josh wasn’t sure if he wanted to get too close to the water so he tried out different rocks to sit on…

Samantha and Timmy finally covinced him to get a little closer…

I guess he got a little too close…

He decided to go back to a new rock…

I had to get a close up of his feet because they had so much sand on them…

Nathan decided to sit down in a safe place where our shoes were…

I was taking pictures and then noticed my shoe go floating by me and it dawned on me that my shoe was up far enough that it shouldn’t be in the water. All 8 (kids and me) shoes had been taken by a wave that had come up higher than we expected. Nathan managed to rescue them all. Then we put them up on a higher rock instead of the sand. When another wave took them out to sea again, we decided to call it quits and climb back up the rocks. Of course, Nathan came to our rescue again and managed to get all of the shoes back. Needless to say we all returned to the RV soaked! :)
